Short answer: Before you call for a repair, do four things: restart the machine, check it has power and stock, clean the payment slots, and note the exact error message. That solves a large share of faults, and for the rest it gives the technician what they need to bring the right part on the first visit.
- Switch off and unplug before touching anything inside the machine.
- Do not open the cooling unit, electrical panels or boiler — those are technician jobs.
- A photo of the error and the model number speeds up every repair.
First, the 2-minute checks
- Power: is the socket live and the plug firmly in? Has a breaker tripped after a power cut?
- Restart: switch off, wait a minute, switch on. Many electronic faults clear.
- Door: is it fully closed and locked? Most machines will not sell with the door switch open.
- Stock and change: an empty column or empty change tubes look like a fault to the customer.
- Display: write down the exact message or code.
Nine common faults
| Problem | Likely cause | What you can check |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Coins rejected or jammed | Dirty coin path, full cash box, coin stuck in the mechanism | Empty the cash box, clear and clean the coin path, refill change tubes |
| 2. Notes not accepted | Dusty sensors, worn notes, full stacker | Clean the reader with a dry cloth, empty the stacker, try a newer note |
| 3. Card reader offline | No mobile signal, SIM or data plan issue, loose cable | Restart the reader, check signal at the machine, check the cable |
| 4. Product stuck or not delivered | Wrong loading, bent spiral, product too large for the column | Reload correctly, align the spiral, move the product to a wider column |
| 5. Takes money, gives nothing | Motor fault or drop sensor blocked | Clean the delivery sensor; note which selection fails |
| 6. Not cooling | Dusty condenser, blocked vents, door seal, direct sun | Clean the coil, clear the vents, check the seal, move out of the sun |
| 7. Coffee: weak, cold or no drink | Empty or clogged ingredient, scale, water supply off | Refill and clear outlets, check the water tap or tank, run a rinse |
| 8. Water leaking | Full waste tray, loose hose, worn seal | Empty the tray; if it continues, close the water tap and switch off |
| 9. Display blank or frozen | Power supply or control board | Restart once; if it stays blank, call a technician |

When to stop and call a technician
- Burning smell, sparks, damaged cable or water near electrical parts — unplug immediately.
- The compressor is silent, or runs constantly without cooling.
- The same error returns after a restart and cleaning.
- A selection motor or the coin mechanism needs to be removed.
- Anything inside the boiler, brewer drive or refrigeration circuit.
Working on these without training can make the fault worse and may affect the warranty.
What to send for a faster repair
- Brand, model and serial number (on the plate inside the door)
- A photo of the display with the error message
- A 20-second video of the fault
- What you already tried
- The machine’s location and when it can be accessed
With that, a technician can usually tell you the likely part and bring it along. See our repair and maintenance service and spare parts.
Preventing the next breakdown
Most of the faults above come back to cleaning and heat. A ten-minute routine at each refill and a monthly clean of the cooling unit prevent the majority of call-outs — use our maintenance checklist. If the machine still takes coins only, a cashless reader also removes the most common source of jams.
