The words suppliers, technicians and landlords use — explained in one or two sentences, so you can read any quote or contract with confidence.

Machine types
- Snack vending machineماكينة السناكس
- A glass-front machine that holds packaged snacks on trays and pushes them out with rotating spirals. It is the most common machine in offices, factories and staff accommodation because it sells many different products from one cabinet. Buy machines
- Combo vending machineماكينة كومبو
- One refrigerated machine that sells snacks and cold drinks together. A combo suits sites with space or budget for a single machine, at the cost of fewer selections of each type. Machine Finder
- Can and bottle machineماكينة المشروبات الباردة
- A refrigerated machine built only for cans and bottles. It holds more drinks than a combo and keeps them colder, which matters on hot sites and during long shifts.
- Bean-to-cup coffee machineماكينة قهوة من الحبوب إلى الكوب
- A coffee machine that grinds whole beans for every cup and brews under pressure. It gives the best taste and the lowest ingredient cost per cup, and needs daily cleaning and regular descaling. Choose a coffee machine
- Instant coffee machineماكينة القهوة سريعة التحضير
- A hot-drinks machine that mixes soluble coffee, milk powder, chocolate or tea with hot water. It is faster and simpler to maintain than bean-to-cup and suits high-volume sites such as factories. Choose a coffee machine
- Table-top machineماكينة سطح الطاولة
- A compact machine that stands on a counter or its own base cabinet. Table-top coffee machines are the usual choice for an office pantry or a small waiting area.
- Smart fridgeالثلاجة الذكية
- A locked fridge that opens after the customer taps a card or phone, then charges for the items taken using cameras, weight shelves or tags. It sells fresh meals and irregular packs that spirals cannot hold.
- Micro marketالميكرو ماركت
- An unattended self-service corner with open shelves, fridges and a self-checkout kiosk. It needs a closed, trusted site such as an office floor, and offers a wider range than vending machines.
- Change machineماكينة الصرف
- A machine that changes banknotes into coins or tokens. It is used in laundries, car washes, arcades and anywhere the equipment on site accepts coins only.
Inside the machine
- Spiral (coil)الحلزون (اللولب)
- The rotating wire that holds one product per turn and drops it when the motor turns. Spirals come in different pitches: a wide pitch for thick packs, a narrow pitch for slim ones.
- Selectionالاختيار
- One product position that a customer can choose, with its own number and price. The number of selections tells you how many different products a machine can offer at once.
- Capacityالسعة
- The total number of items a machine holds when full. Capacity, together with daily sales, decides how often the machine must be refilled.
- Elevator deliveryنظام المصعد
- A lift that collects the product at shelf height and lowers it to the pick-up door instead of letting it fall. It is used for glass bottles, fresh food and fragile items.
- Drop sensorحساس السقوط
- A sensor at the delivery area that confirms a product actually dropped. If nothing falls, the machine turns the spiral again or refunds the customer, which cuts complaints.
- Refrigeration unitوحدة التبريد
- The compressor, condenser and fans that cool the cabinet. In the UAE it needs clear air space behind the machine and a clean condenser, otherwise drinks come out warm and the compressor wears early. Repair & maintenance
- Brew groupمجموعة التحضير
- The part of a bean-to-cup machine that presses the ground coffee and forces hot water through it. It should be rinsed regularly and its seals replaced as they wear.
- Planogramمخطط العرض (بلانوجرام)
- The plan of which product sits in which selection and at what price. A good planogram puts best-sellers at eye level and removes slow items after reviewing the sales report.
Payments and technology
- Cashless readerقارئ الدفع الإلكتروني
- A payment terminal fitted to the machine that accepts bank cards and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The payment provider charges a fee on each sale. Cashless vending
- Contactless (NFC)الدفع اللاتلامسي (NFC)
- Paying by holding a card, phone or watch near the reader. It is the fastest way to pay at a machine and is what most users in the UAE now expect. Cashless vending
- MDBبروتوكول MDB
- Multi-Drop Bus: the standard connection between a vending machine's control board and its payment devices. An MDB machine can take a coin mechanism, a bill validator and a cashless reader from different makers.
- Coin mechanismآلية العملات
- The device that checks coins, stores them in tubes and gives change. Empty change tubes are a common reason a machine shows "exact change only". Spare parts & cashless
- Bill validatorقارئ الأوراق النقدية
- The device that reads and accepts banknotes. It must be programmed for the current dirham notes, and its sensors need cleaning when it starts rejecting good notes. Spare parts & cashless
- Telemetryالمراقبة عن بُعد
- A connected module that sends sales, stock levels and fault alerts to an online dashboard. It lets an operator plan refills by real stock instead of fixed visits.
Business terms
- Operatorالمشغّل
- The person or company that owns the machines, fills them and keeps the sales. An operator pays the site owner a fee or a commission for the space. Start a vending business
- Operated vendingالتشغيل الكامل
- A service in which the supplier installs, stocks, cleans and repairs the machine at your site. Your business provides the space and power, and does not buy the machine. Operated vending
- Lease-to-ownالتأجير المنتهي بالتملك
- Paying for a machine in monthly instalments over an agreed term, after which it becomes yours. It protects cash flow and usually costs more in total than paying upfront. Lease / rent
- Location fee and commissionرسوم الموقع والعمولة
- What an operator pays the site owner: either a fixed monthly amount or a percentage of sales. Agree it in writing before installing, because it comes straight out of the margin. Start a vending business
- NOC (no-objection certificate)شهادة عدم ممانعة (NOC)
- Written permission from the property owner or manager to place a machine on site. Authorities and many landlords ask for it before a machine can be installed. Start a vending business
- Vend priceسعر البيع
- The price the customer pays at the machine for one item. It is set per selection and can be changed from the machine menu or, with telemetry, remotely.
- Gross marginهامش الربح الإجمالي
- The vend price minus the cost of the product, shown as a share of the vend price. It is what remains to cover the location fee, payment fees, transport, repairs and your profit. Calculators

- The number of months of net profit needed to recover what you paid for the machine and its set-up. It depends mostly on how many people use the site each day. Calculators
- Refill routeمسار التعبئة
- The planned round of visits to restock machines and collect cash. Machines that are close to each other keep fuel and time per visit low.
Condition and service
- Refurbished machineماكينة مجدّدة
- A used machine that has been inspected, cleaned, repaired and tested before resale. Ask what was replaced and what warranty is given, because "refurbished" has no single standard. Used vs new machines

- Doctor Vending's standard for refurbished machines: a documented inspection, a condition grade and a written warranty on each unit. DV Certified
- Preventive maintenanceالصيانة الوقائية
- Scheduled cleaning, checks and part replacement done before something fails. It costs less than emergency repairs and the sales lost while a machine is out of order. Repair & maintenance
- Descalingإزالة الترسبات
- Removing mineral build-up from the boiler and water lines of a coffee machine. A water filter slows the build-up and protects taste and heating parts.
- Downtimeوقت التوقف
- Any period when the machine cannot sell: a fault, an empty column or a payment device that is offline. Every hour of downtime on a busy site is lost revenue. Repair & maintenance
- Call-outزيارة عند الطلب
- A single repair visit requested when a fault appears, charged per visit plus parts. A maintenance contract replaces call-outs with scheduled visits for a fixed fee. Repair & maintenance
