In short
Most vending customers in the UAE now expect to tap a card or phone. A cashless reader connects to the machine's payment interface (usually the MDB standard) and accepts contactless cards and mobile wallets. Industry estimates published by Meydan Free Zone put digital-payment coverage at over 60% of UAE vending machines by 2024. You pay for the reader and per-transaction fees; in return you capture sales from people without cash and reduce cash handling.
How it works
- The customer selects a product and taps a card or phone on the reader.
- The reader authorises the payment with the payment provider.
- The reader tells the machine to vend through the payment interface.
- Sales appear in the provider's dashboard; money is settled to your bank account.
Most modern machines use the MDB (Multi-Drop Bus) payment standard; some older coffee machines use other protocols and may need an adapter.

Questions
Do vending machines in Dubai accept Apple Pay?
Machines with a contactless reader generally accept Apple Pay and Google Pay because they work like contactless cards. Check the reader model.
Can my old machine be upgraded?
Often yes. Send us the model — we check the payment interface and recommend a reader.
